In this interview, Waleed Mahdi talks about the different cinema cultures that are prevalent in the Arab world, and breaks them down. He also analyses the use of Arab stereotypes in Arab-made films.

Waleed F. Mahdi is Assistant Professor in the Department of International and Area Studies, and the Department of Modern Languages, Literature and Linguistics, at the University of Oklahoma, USA. His research interests and publications revolve around USA–Arab cultural politics. His current book project examines the issues of identity, belonging, and cultural citizenship in relation to the representations of Arab-Americans in films.
