Interview with Sabine Krayenbühl and Zeva Oelbaum

In this interview, the filmmaking duo of Zeva Oelbaum and Sabine Krayenbühl talk about the importance of accuracy and authenticity when making a film. They reference their recent film project Letters from Baghdad (2016), an experimental documentary form film which dives into Gertrude Bell’s impact on Iraq and uses archival footage to be more truthful in its storytelling.

Zeva Oelbaum is an award-winning producer and photographer. Prior to her film work she was a still photographer, with her work published in periodicals such as The New York Times Magazine. She has worked on a number of films, including as the producer and co-director of Letters from Baghdad (2016), an award winner at the Beirut International Film Festival in 2016.

Sabine Krayenbühl is a filmmaker and editor. She has worked in Europe and North America on projects including the documentary My Architect (2003), which was nominated for an Oscar in 2004. She was the editor of the 2005 documentary Mad Hot Ballroom, and co-directed the documentary Letters from Baghdad (2016) with Zeva Oelbaum.
