In this interview Camille Baker talks about the interplay between humans and technology, notably the smartphone. Baker discusses the impacts the smartphone and its visceral triggers might have on the body and unpacks the level of intimacy we might have with such devices. She considers the affordances of the smartphone and how it’s become more than just an adjunct accessory.
Camille Baker is an interdisciplinary artist, curator and researcher with a background in digital and electronic art and design, working across creative digital disciplines. Baker’s digital media practices and experience includes working with wearable technology and e-textiles, mobile media art and performance, and emerging technologies research and education. Baker teaches Interface and Interaction in the School of Film Media and Performing Arts at the University for the Creative Arts, United Kingdom.
