In this interview Khaled Jarrar discusses why his work aims to make people rethink conceptions of barriers and walls, and how his mode of expression has been shaped to his experience of living under occupation. Here he explores how the pursuit of freedom has informed his practice by using art and new media to spread greater social awareness and drive change.

Multidisciplinary artist Khaled Jarrar is based in Ramallah. His work explores the impact of modern-day power struggles on ordinary citizens and issues of boarders and apartheid. His past work includes Khaled’s Ladder (2016), an artistic intervention at the US-Mexico border which was highlighted by international publications including The Guardian and the Los Angeles Times.
