Here Rajaa Makhlouf talks about her career as a costume designer, the differences between fashion and costume, and the many aspects which go into costume development, characterization, and working with directors and actors.
Rajaa Makhlouf is an award-winning costume designer with over 20 years in film and television. Her award-winning work includes A-Bwab al-Gheim (Gates of the Clouds), a musalsal depicting the Arabian Peninsula and Bedouin traditions during times of change influenced by British and Turkish presence. It was directed by influential Syrian director Hatem Ali and shown during Ramadan 2010.
