Here Mehdi Semati introduces and discusses Iranian television production, including state and non-government productions. His discussion includes the portrayal of women, censorship, economics, and the differences between Iranian drama and those made internationally.
Mehdi Semati is associate professor and journalism department chair in the department of communication at Northern Illinois University, USA. His areas of study include international communication and global media, Iranian media and culture, and race and ethnicity. He has published articles in several journals including Popular Communication, Middle East Journal of Culture and Communication, and Critical Studies in Media Communication. His most recent publication is Iran and the American Media: Press coverage of the “Iran Deal” in context (co-author, Palgrave Macmillian, 2021).
