Language of Poets

Tracing the history of the Arabic language, allows for informed contemplation of its tumultuous present and uncertain future.

In ‘Language of Poets’, Dana Dajani presents a spoken word poem that vividly charts the evolution of the Arabic language from its Semitic origins to its revered status as the language of the Holy Quran, to the Islamic Golden Age and beyond. Through this artistic narrative, Dana reveals how the Arabic language has served as a unifying force between East and West, broadening the scope of human knowledge and spiritual understanding through translation, collaboration and preservation.

Dana Dajani is a Palestinian writer, performer, and social justice advocate. As a performance poet, she draws on her theatrical background to bring her work to life, using a variety of characters to address themes of social justice.
