Majlis360 has been created to share information, research and articles which discuss and analyze The Media Majlis’ work. This will range from explaining and examining museum practices, to the evaluation of our exhibitions, and what that evaluation tells us and how we use it to improve our work. Derived from the museum’s ethos of always another side, Majlis360 has aims to share the multiple sides of what we do and why. We hope from this to engage in a more inclusive, 360° conversation on the museum’s work, museum practices in the region, their impacts and outcomes.
Contributions come from across the museum’s staff as well as the many freelance museum professionals, media specialists, researchers, our students, and others with whom we work to create exhibitions, and their accompanying programs, publications, and web content.
Of use to museum professionals and those in the creative industries in the region, we also hope that the work here is of interest to museum visitors looking to understand more about what museums do, why and for whom.

Pamela Erskine-Loftus
Pamela Erskine-Loftus is the founding director of The Media Majlis. Her professional experience includes appointments in the USA, including with The Museum of Modern Art in New York, and in the Arabian Peninsula with Sharjah Museums Department, UAE, where she was founding head of interpretation and education, and with Qatar Museums where she was a museum concept curator. She holds a PhD in Arabian Peninsula museology, with an emphasis on cross-cultural communication within Gulf exhibitions. She is the editor of three books on Gulf museum practice.
