Aseel AlYaqoub talks here about her viewing experiences growing up in Kuwait watching musalsalat and other Ramadan television. She speaks about re-visiting shows seen in her childhood and the different understandings which come about as an adult, societal and political aspects which shows discuss, and analysis of several Kuwait musalsalat.
Aseel AlYaqoub is a multi-disciplinary artist from Kuwait. Her work examines themes involving nostalgia for certain historical elements over others, and nationhood. Her work has been exhibited in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, UAE, New York, London, and Budapest, and was part of the 2020 Kuwait National Pavilion at the 17th International Architecture Biennale in Venice.
